That’s how the specialized critics express about Miguel Angel Scebba’s performance during his extensive tours that have already taken him to over fifteen countries in the world.
This pianist, who was born in Buenos Aires was initially formed in Argentina, but it was definitely after studying for several years in Russia, that he became an outstanding representative of the Russian tradition among the great Latin American pianists.
He studied firstly in the Tchaikowsky Conservatory of Kiev, with Professor Valery Sagaidatchniy and later in theTchaikowsky Conservatory of Moscow with the renowned Professor Vladimir Natanson. During his staying at Kiev’s Conservatory he met Professor Vladimir Nilsen, who invited him to Leningrad, where he spended several months working under the guidance of this master.
His record of the “Sonate op. 22” of Schumann was compared by the critics to than of the famous Sviatoslav Richter.
Miguel Angel Scebba is constantly being invited to perform in concerts as a soloist and recitals in Europe and America, and he is one of the rare Latin American pianists that made several tours along the formed USSR, whose audience and critics are of an outstanding artistry (1976 – 1981 – 1985).
He made recently a successful tour along Spain, Russia and Bulgary. The critics of “Musika Viva” wrote: “Scebba showed us a magnificent unity of brilliant Italian virtuosity and Germanic sense of form.”
Miguel Angel Scebba has a vast repertoire, over fifty concerts with orchestra and has given integral cycles of the Beethoven’s sonatas.
He is also often being invited to give master classes in many important music schools around the world, such as Music Academy of Sofia, Miami University, Temple University (Philadelphia), Instituto Superior de Arte of La Habana (Cuba), as well as many Universities of Latin America.
Scebba is also a prolific composer: Four Symphonies, recorded by the Orchestra of National University of San Juan - Argentina, where he is full professor, and many chamber compositions, as well as works for organ, voice, etc. He received postgraduate degrees in Composition from the Conservatory of Kiev (Ukraine). In 1966 he reveived the Municipality of San Martin Award for the “Symphony of the Andes”, a very early work. He received the FUNARTE (National Foundation of Fine Arts) Award for his “Concert for Orchestra” in Rio de Janeiro in 1983.
